What the heck is subtext, and why should anyone care? Subtext can make any plotting device believable; it can make an ending seem surprising and satisfying all at once; it can add layers to your writing that few other techniques will achieve. Subtext answers the question of why word choice is so important, and why editors everywhere will hound the author for 'better word choice here' in their manuscripts. This panel will give the audience professional editors' ideas about subtext and how to use it in your manuscripts.
